NM22: Spirit of man given by God

[Note: Hebrew text in the following paper may not show in your browser]

NM22 Abstract

There is a "spirit in man." What kind of spirit is it? Where did it come from?

Paradoxes of the Spirit of Man

nm989» It is hard to understand how God, who is good, can give mankind the spirit of man which has led to so much evil on the earth. This is yet another paradox of God. From the God Papers we read:

How can God be love (1John 4:8), and also a killer? In scripture the Lord says, "I kill and I make alive; I wound, and I heal." (Deut 32:39; 1Sam 2:6) Yet the Bible says that the God is good to all. (Pss 145:9) How can God be good to all and also a killer? How can God predestinate some to wrath and destruction (Prov 16:4; Rom 9:21-23; 1Pet 2:8; Jude 1:4), and some to mercy and glory? (Rom 9:21-23; Eph 1:4-5; etc.) Not only is God love, but He is all powerful. (Gen 17:1; Rev 1:8) In his all powerfulness He even created evil: "I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." (Isa 45:7) These are some of the Biblical paradoxes of God. Just how can God be love and also a killer, or how or why has He created evil? According to the Biblical definition of love (1Cor 13:4-8), killing or evil isn't one of the qualities of love. Yet, according to the Bible, God is love and in someway has killed and in someway has created evil. (From , ¶ gp10)

nm990 » Because of the paradoxes pertaining to God, some simply don’t believe in God, or deny the Biblical God, or some are forced to not admit or not see the plentiful scriptures concerning God’s "evil" side. As we find out in the God Papers, the secret to unlocking the paradoxes of God is the meaning of the Name of God, the phenomenon of time, and the phenomenon of predestination. His Name manifests to us how God can be good without actually doing evil in this old age. Hint: there is a left and right side of God. Satan, the left side of God (that is, the left cherub in the Holy of Holies [Ezek 28:14]; both cherubs were made from one piece; see God Papers, especially parts 8 and 9) is now doing all the evil in this age. The other hint is that God predestinated everything before the cosmos, thus before good, before evil, before law, and consequently before sin, so God’s predestination is without sin. Soon the right side of God will take control of the earth away from Satan and bring good to the earth.

Spirit Put in Mankind

nm991» Did God really put the spirit of man inside mankind? In the Old Mind Papers (PP21) we mention the spirit of man as being put into mankind at the beginning by God, that is, by Yehowah Elohim. In this paper we will show you the Biblical verses. We will also use the KJV with Mr. Strong's numbers behind each word or phrase. Strong's numbers are inclosed in "< >."

nm992» Notice where the Bible first indicates when God gave man the spirit of man:

KJV Gen 2:7: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

KJV Gen 2:7: And the LORD <03068> God <0430> formed <03335> (08799) man <0120> of the dust <06083> of <04480> the ground <0127>, and breathed <05301> (08799) into his nostrils <0639> the breath <05397> of life <02416>; and man <0120> became a living <02416> soul <05315>.

nm993» Notice also that the "LORD God"(1) breathed into man the breath of life. The Hebrew word translated "breathed" is Strong's number, 05301. The Hebrew word translated "breath" in "breath of life" is Strong's number, 05397.

nm994» From Strong's concordance we see that the number 05301 means:

5301 xp;n" naphach {naw-fakh'} ø 1) to breathe, blow, sniff at, seethe, give up or lose (life) 1a) (Qal) to breathe, blow 1b) (Pual) to be blown 1c) (Hiphil) to cause to breathe out

nm995» From Whittaker's Revised BDB lexicon, Strong's number 05301 means:

w conjunction xpn verb: qal imperf waw consec 3rd pers masc sing B6438 [xp;n"] vb. breath, blow -- Qal breath, blow; sq. b also blow into it (to scatter it); sq. l[; : vae wyl'k' tx;p;l' to blow fire upon it (ore, for melting), so fig. and I will blow upon you with (b) the fire of my wrath; Hv'p.n: 'n she hath breathed out her life (of a mother, cf. Hiph.); abs. x;Wpn" rysi a blown (i.e. well-heated, boiling) pot. Pu. xP'nU al{ vae a fire not blown (by any human breath). Hiph. yTixP'xi h'yl,['B. vp,n< the life of its (the land's) owners I have caused them to breathe out; AtAa ~T,x.P;hiw> and ye have sniffed at it (in contempt). (pg 655)

nm996» Strong's number 05397 means:

5397 hm'v'n> n@shamah {nesh-aw-maw'} ø 1) breath, spirit 1a) breath (of God) 1b) breath (of man) 1c) every breathing thing 1d) spirit (of man)

nm997» From Whittaker's Revised BDB lexicon Strong's number 05397 means:

hm'v'n> common noun fem sing const B6589 hm'v'n> n.f. breath -- 1. breath of God as hot wind kindling a flame; as destroying wind; as cold wind producing ice; as creative, giving breath to man. 2. breath of man; breath of life ~yyx tmvn; as breathed in by God it is God's breath in man; and it is characteristic of man. 3. syn. of vp,n< in hm'v'n>-lK' vpn every breathing thing. 4. spirit of man. (pg 675)

Notice that one meaning of this word is "spirit." The breath of life could have been translated the spirit of life.

nm998» There was actually a dual sense to Gen 2:7: one physical; one spiritual. Notice Gen 2:7's close resemblance to John 20:22:

KJV John 20:22: And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit:

KJV John 20:22: And <2532> when he had said <2036> (5631) this <5124>, he breathed on <1720> (5656) them, and <2532> saith <3004> (5719) unto them <846>, Receive ye <2983> (5628) the Holy <40> Spirit <4151>:

nm999» Christ blew on them saying, "receive the Holy Spirit." The word "blew" or "breathed" is Strong's number 1720 which means:

1720 evmfusa,w

emphusao {em-foo-sah'-o} ø 1) to blow or breathe upon

nm1000» The word translated "Spirit" (# 4151) in John 20:22 means:

4151 pneu/ma pneuma {pnyoo'-mah} ø 1) a movement of air (a gentle blast 1a) of the wind, hence the wind itself 1b) breath of nostrils or mouth 2) the spirit, i.e. the vital principal by which the body is animated 2a) the rational spirit, the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides 2b) the soul 3) a spirit, i.e. a simple essence, devoid of all or at least all grosser matter, and possessed of the power of knowing, desiring, deciding, and acting 3a) a life giving spirit 3b) a human soul that has left the body 3c) a spirit higher than man but lower than God, i.e. an angel 3c1) used of demons, or evil spirits, who were conceived as inhabiting the bodies of men 3c2) the spiritual nature of Christ, higher than the highest angels and equal to God, the divine nature of Christ 4) of God 4a) God's power and agency distinguishable in thought from his essence in itself considered 4a1) manifest in the course of affairs 4a2) by its influence upon the souls productive in the theocratic body (the church) of all the higher spiritual gifts and blessings 4a3) the third person of the trinity, the God the Holy Spirit 5) the disposition or influence which fills and governs the soul of any one 5a) the efficient source of any power, affection, emotion, desire, etc.

nm1001» In Gen 2:7 Yehowah Elohim (Jesus Christ's Father, see GP2) breathed or blew into Adam's nostrils and thereby gave him the breath of life. The same word "breath" (Strong's number 05397) in "breath of life" is also translated spirit in Prov 20:27 ("spirit" of man) in the KJV. And as we saw above it can and does mean spirit.

nm1002» In John 3:8 spirit (Strong's # 4151) and wind (#4151) are used interchangeably depending on which English translation you use and in what context it is used:

KJV John 3:8: The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

KJV John 3:8: The wind <4151> bloweth <4154> (5719) where <3699> it listeth <2309> (5719), and <2532> thou hearest <191> (5719) the sound <5456> thereof <846>, but <235> canst <1492> <0> not <3756> tell <1492> (5758) whence <4159> it cometh <2064> (5736), and <2532> whither <4226> it goeth <5217> (5719): so <3779> is <2076> (5748) every one <3956> that is born <1080> (5772) of <1537> the Spirit <4151>.

YLT John 3:8: the Spirit where he willeth doth blow, and his voice thou dost hear, but thou hast not known whence he cometh, and whither he goeth; thus is every one who hath been born of the Spirit.'

NAB John 3:8: "The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

nm1003» John 20:28 was not put in the Bible by God for no reason. In context with Gen 2:7, it is telling us that as Yehowah Elohim in the beginning put the spirit of man in mankind, but in the end times Jesus Christ (through the power of God given to him) will give mankind the new and better spirit, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit was given to mankind on the first Pentecost after Jesus Christ was resurrected. (Acts 1:5, 2:1-4) This was the Holy Spirit prophesied to be given to mankind. (Isa 44:3; Ezek 11:19, 36:26; Joel 2:28) But before this Holy Spirit was given there was and is even today (1997) in mankind the spirit of man that God (Yehowah Elohim) gave to mankind in the beginning.

nm1004» There is a spirit of man that is in man. (Job 32:8; Prov 20:27) It is man's spirit. (Job 34:14; Eccl 3:21) This is an evil spirit. ( 1Sam 16:16; see, "Old Mind Paper" [NM21])

Yehowah Elohim Gave the Evil Spirit to Mankind

nm1005» Yehowah Elohim, who created the heavens and the earth, he gives breath and spirit to them that walk on the earth. (Isa 42:5)

KJV Isa 42:5: Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

KJV Isa 42:5: Thus saith <0559> (08804) God <0410> the LORD <03068>, he that created <01254> (08802) the heavens <08064>, and stretched them out <05186> (08802); he that spread forth <07554> (08802) the earth <0776>, and that which cometh out <06631> of it; he that giveth <05414> (08802) breath <05397> unto the people <05971> upon it, and spirit <07307> to them that walk <01980> (08802) therein:

nm1006» The spirit and souls Yehowah Elohim made. (Isa 57:16) God made the spirit. Yehowah (YHWH or the BeComingOne) formed or created the "spirit of man within him":

KJV Zech 12:1: The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

Not only did God make the spirit he made the "spirit of man within him."

nm1007» It is the spirit of man that is within mankind that knows the thoughts of mankind, while the things pertaining to God no one can understand except they that have the Spirit of God. (1Cor 2:11)

Battle Against the Spiritual, Not the Physical

nm1008» Since angels are spirits (Heb 1:7), since the meaning of "angel" is messenger, then the way evil entered the world is through the spirit of man within mankind. (Also see "Old Mind" paper [NM21]) That is why we fight against the spiritual world and not the physical world. Our battle with sin and evil on earth has to do with fighting a spiritual battle against the other-mind and its power, not against flesh and blood. (Eph 6:12) That is, the flesh is neutral pertaining to good and evil, but the evil spirit or the spirit in man in this the old age is the evil we fight against. The good Spirit or the Holy Spirit or the Spirit of Christ is what is given to mankind to fight against evil. It is this good spirit that causes mankind to repent of its old ways.

Repentance

nm1009» The change of mind in repentance is the change from the ruling spirit of man to the new ruling Spirit of God. When we receive the Spirit of God we get a spirit that is stronger than the spirit of man inside of us; strong enough to overcome the old mind and its ways of sin. (1John 4:4)

But Peter and the apostles answered:
"We must obey God rather than men." (Acts 5:28-29)

"All silencing of discussion is an assumption of infallibility ... But the peculiar evil of  silencing the expression of opinion is, that it is robbing the human race ... If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth; if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error."
